Google now lets you experience British history virtually

Want to take a tour of 10 Downing Street — the building which British prime ministers have made some of the most important historical decisions since 1735? The building is in line with America’s White House as being the most important political building anywhere in the world in the modern era.

Now, Google has made it possible for absolutely anyone with Internet access to tour the historical locale virtually.

Google Arts and Culture allows users to walk through historic rooms and hallways and get up-close looks at more than 50 photographs and works of art. Virtual visitors can take a peek into the cabinet room, where the Prime Minister has held weekly cabinet meetings since 1735, or look around Margaret Thatcher’s office.

Why not take a stroll down the grand main staircase while you’re there, or simply wander through the gardens, where Winston Churchill liked to nap.

If you want the full immersive experience, check out the new tool using a Google Cardboard virtual reality viewer, complete with the built-in audio tour, with the Google Arts and Culture app available for Android and iOS.
