Reliable power inductors for demanding automotive applications

The introduction of the HA66 series of SMD power inductors has been announced by TT Electronics, a global provider of engineered electronics for performance critical applications, for use in high power density applications where size is critical.

The inductors’ compact design, together with their AEC-Q200 certification provide the performance and reliability levels that automotive and high reliability industrial applications demand.

The low profile TT Electronics power inductors are suited for use in high efficiency DC-DC converters. They use high switching frequencies up to 3MHz as well as EMI and low pass DC filters.

Applications in the transportation field include powertrain, engine control, transmission control, LED driver, ABS braking systems, EPS, and radar systems. In the industrial sector they are suitable for use in automation systems as well as DC-DC converters.

HA66 series features

The HA66 series is a low profile, low loss, ferrite-based inductor, with a range of inductances and package sizes.

The series also comprises a range of 38 inductors with inductance ratings from 2.5-220µH, DC resistances from 0.018-0.820Ω. The series also has Irms values from 1.22 to 11.2A. The compact inductors are available in two case sizes, 5.7×5.7x3mm, and 6.7×6.7x4mm.

The inductors are magnetically shielded, have low DC resistance and feature a high saturation current of 4.4A maximum.

Able to withstand high temperatures, the parts have an operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C, an ambient temperature maximum of 85°C, a maximum temperature rise of 40°C, and are able to meet an operating temperature of 155°C.

The standard packaging is embossed tape and reel in 1,000 or 2,000 units, and the inductors are RoHS compliant.
