DIN-rail power supplies for railway applications

Robust DIN-rail power supplies for railway applications are now available from PULS Power. Suitable for both trackside and on-board train equipment, the PULS railway range of power supplies provides 100% greater mains failure bridging time than required by the railway standard EN 50155 (S2).

They are weather resistant with all PCBs having conformal coating as standard, and are completely convection cooled, further increasing reliability and minimizing system noise.

All models have a nominal 110VDC input with a wide voltage fluctuation tolerance of -30 to +40% and are available with an output voltage range from 24 to 28VDC with power ratings of 100, 200 and 400W. Depending on model operating temperature range is from -40 to +70°C with no derating and typical efficiency is greater than 94%.

Fully EN 50155 certified the PULS DIN-rail power supplies are classified according to T3, TX, C2 and S2 for use on rolling stock. They also meet EN 61373 for shock and vibration, EN 50121-3-2 for EMC requirements and EN 45545-2 for fire protection on a railway vehicle according to hazard level HL3.

DIN-Rail power supplies offer system designers and installers’ uncomplicated assembly and permits flexible positioning of the devices. Optional wall and side mounting brackets offer alternative mounting options. Spring-clamp terminals provide shock and vibration resistance, makes installation intuitive and facilitates simple wiring without tools.

Marco van der Linden, UK Country Manager, for PULS commented: “The advanced, robust, reliable and efficient design of our DIN-Rail power supplies makes them ideal for railway applications. They offer many advantages over chassis mounted types including ease of installation, the ability to upgrade in the event of a system change and simplicity of installation and maintenance.”
