Boston Dynamics’ SpotMini is like a robotic house-pet that does chores

Do you feel like getting a new pet? How about a pet that does chores like load the dishwasher or bring you a soda?

Well, Boston Dynamics is working on it with its newest robot — SpotMini, a smaller version of the Spot robot that weight just 55 lbs. (65 lbs. with its robotic arm).

SpotMini is an all-electric robotic dog that can operate for about 90 minutes on a single charge, depending on what kind of activities its taking part in.

According to Boston Dynamics, “SpotMini is one of the quietest robots we have ever built.”

The dog is equipped with a variety of sensors like depth cameras, a solid state gyro (IMU) and proprioception sensors in its limbs. The sensors help the robotic dog to navigate and manipulate objects so that it can perform some tasks autonomously.
