Yes, it’s now a real thing. An aerial video solutions company called Freefly has just given users a bit of a treat on its YouTube channel — as well as a glimpse into the future.
The company revealed that you can, in fact. use drones to surf. By attaching a surfboard to a Freefly ALTA 8 drone, a brave soul was able to glide on the water, while the drone captured some spectacular views of the event.
According to the company, the ALTA is “the world’s most capable drone” and can transform into a portable carry-on in just minutes thanks to it’s fold-up system. This isn’t a typical hobbyist drone, though, so don’t expect to purchase one and set out on the sea unless you’ve got a spare $18,000.
