Watch Microsoft’s virtual 3D teleportation in real-time

Microsoft Research recently released a video displaying its new technology called holoportation. The 3D capture tech allows high-quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed and transmitted anywhere in the world in real time. The researchers combine the technology with the company’s reality display HoloLens to let users see, hear, and interact with remote participants in 3D as if they are actually present in the same room.

According to the Microsoft project page, “Communicating and interacting with remote users becomes as natural as face-to-face communication.”
