Kickstarter Robo 3D Printer Used To Help Blind Daughter

The Robo 3D Printer is a fairly low-cost and open source 3D printer that was crowdfunded on Kickstarter about two years ago.

Now the printer company is up on its feet selling 3D printers for $799, as well as other controllers, parts, and filaments.

Everyone enjoys a heartwarming story, so Robo 3D decided to share this one – where technology is used to benefit a young blind girl. In the video below you’ll hear the story of Jason Walker who purchased a Robo 3D printer for his 14-year-old adopted daughter Layla.

Why? To help her learn of course. By printing different sized objects she can learn, for example, about fractions, deciphering between 1/6 and 1/4.

Her father was also able to tell her what something was, then print it out for her so she could feel it and make connections.
