5 China-based robotics companies that are shaping the industry

The robotics industry is changing the way we interact with the world. One key country that is contributing to this robotics revolution is China, where there are thousands of local robotic companies jumping into the market to create industrial and service robots.

Take a look at five companies that LeiFeng Scientific Technological Corporation, one of China’s leading tech companies, deems up-and-coming.

1. Segway

Last year, Beijing-based company Segway, in addition to reciving $80 million in funding from investors like Xiaomi, Sequoia Capital, and Shunwei Foundation.

Segway became a subsidiary of Ninebot, but the two brands remain separate.

This past January at CES 2016, the new Segway was unveiled. The personal transportation vehicle looks almost nothing like the original, though. It does still maintain the original Segway’s self-balancing technology, but is considerably smaller, at just a few feet tall, and has what appears to be a head, face, and two LED eyes that blink and smile.

2. Turing Robot

Turing Robot is a start-up AI robot with the overall dream of giving every family on earth their own personal robot.

The company provides intelligence-based software and hardware products with AI services and has established itself in many hardware and software fields, including domestic service robots, commercial service robots, toy robots for children, intelligent customer service systems, intelligent vehicle systems, and smart home control systems.

Late last year, the company unveiled Turing OS, an intelligent robot operating system built on the basis of simulating the thinking mode and emotional recognition of human to provide natural and friendly multi-mode human-machine interaction. It contains a thinking enhancement engine, an effective computing engine and a self-learning engine.

The company will release its first cellphone this summer, The Turing Phone, comprised of liquid-metal that not only redefines phone engineering and paves the way for trustworthy communication.

3. Ecovacs

Ecovacs is a robotic cleaning company similar to iRobot, the company that makes the Roomba.

The company’s newest robot, “Winbot” cleans windows like the Roomba cleans floors. By turning on the robot, placing it on the window, and pressing “start,” your windows get cleaned without any hassle. Directions for use are simple: Switch the robot on, place it on the window, press start and watch it do your dirty work.  The robot can self-navigate the entire surface of a window, ensuring a quick and efficient clean.

Ecovacs  also makes a robots for floors, though. The Deebot is a Roomba competitor.

4. UBTECH

UBTECH Robotics is a high-tech enterprise working to create an intelligent robot that can serve and interact with people.

One robot that may ring a bell is its robotic assistant, the Alpha 2, capable of taking photos and videos, making phone calls, checking voicemail, sending texts and emails, and controlling Wi-Fi-enabled office equipment. The robot can even post to your social media accounts via voice commands.

The robot even comes with legs so it can run around with you.

5. Rokid

This deep-learning technology start-up company was named as a 2016 CES Innovation Awards Honoree in the Home Audio/Video Components and Accessories category for its first product, “Rokid“, the creative smart-home product.
