Ditch the wristband: Lenovo just unveiled a smart sneaker for fitness tracking

When you think of Lenovo, you typically don’t think of the latest shoes, but the PC maker is getting into the shoe space — the smart shoe space, that is.

Lenovo’s  Smart Shoes will come equipped with LED lights, data tracking and gaming functions.

Though the shoes are not yet available since the company just revealed the concept at its Tech World event, they will provide users with  a lot of the functionality of a wearable wristband. For example, the shoes will connect to an app, allowing users to count their steps and walking gestures.  Users will be able to customize the insoles with the help of a 3D scanner and receive health tips regarding heir walking behavior.

Health won’t be the only feature the shoe provides. The shoes offer an interactive gaming aspect and its smart lighting features provide foot-movement control and music interaction.

Check out the company’s teaser introductory video.
