PEI-Genesis has opened a 50,000-square-foot production facility in Pune, India, giving aerospace, aviation, and defense customers in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region a closer source for value-added circular connector assembly.
The site began operating July 1 and has already shipped its first customer order. It is PEI-Genesis’ sixth production facility worldwide and its second in Asia-Pacific, following its Zhuhai, China operation.
Pune will assemble Amphenol Socapex MIL-DTL-38999 Series I and III connectors, which are widely used where interconnects must withstand vibration, environmental exposure and other demanding conditions. PEI-Genesis says the facility can provide value-added connectors with 48-hour lead times, along with locally stocked inventory from global connector manufacturers.
For engineers and procurement teams, the practical change is less time waiting for configured, application-specific connectors to move through a distant supply chain. The Pune operation also offers low or no minimum-order quantities, while Indian customers can purchase in rupees.
The expansion comes as PEI-Genesis marks its 80th year in business. More importantly, it gives the company a local assembly point in a region where aerospace, defense, aviation and industrial manufacturing continue to demand faster access to qualified interconnect components.
