Karma launched by GoPro in Europe

GoPro is selling the Karma quadcopter in the UK, Spain, Italy, and Germany starting today on GoPro.com and at “selected online retailers.” A Karma bundled with the Hero 5 Black will set customers back €1,399, or they can buy the drone with no camera for €999. That’s about $1,500 and $1,100, respectively, which makes Karma significantly more expensive than it is in the United States.

Karma seemed like a promising product when it launched last fall, but a swift recall sunk a lot of the enthusiasm around the drone. It also didn’t help GoPro’s bottom line during the holidays either, as Karma didn’t make it back onto store shelves until February.

We’ve used Karma since, and while GoPro seems to have fixed the issue that was causing units to fall from the sky, the drone just doesn’t stack up very well against the competition from DJI. But if you own a GoPro and are already deeply invested in the company’s ecosystem of mounts and accessories, it’s maybe a more compelling option for taking your first steps into the sky.
