This Air-Conditioned Suit Lets You Work Outside On Even The Hottest Days

For many, outdoor labor can be strenuous. It’s even worse when temperatures are high. You work up a sweat, become parched, and can even become faint without taking extra precautions.

Inventor Dustin Sims wants to change all that with his StayCool air-conditioned suit, backpack, and blower hybrid. The suit contains air conditioning unit with a blower that can be removed for use in other applications such as lawnmowers, tractors, construction equipment, and motorcycles — anything that could use cool air.

The air-conditioning unit works like your home’s air conditioner in which the air blows across a cold surface to cool down, but also operates in another way, similar to the first air conditioners which air is cooled by evaporating water and humidifying air within the compressor.

According to the StayCool Kickstarter page:

While wearing the suit it feels like your inside standing next to your air vent or air conditioner with a nice flow of cold air across your body. For the full experience, you can even strip down to your shorts. The suit doesn’t feel like it is touching your body, and it is a very similar texture to silk. The material is much softer then cotton and doesn’t cause any itchy sensations. Just stop reading and imagine working out in the yard feeling like your in a big cool bubble, wearing your underwear! It’s like being in a different world!

The suit’s battery can be charges in about an hour and is housed in the attachable backpack, as well as the chamber which needs to be filled with water or ice before use. To operate, a user must slip into the suit and flick the switch on.

As an added bonus, users can also purchase a detachable Bluetooth light and music player to make yard work more fun.

If you’re interested, head over to the StayCool Kickstarter page and pre-order a complete suit for $330.
