Ultra-low current miniature oscillators for medical implantable applications

The frequency control specialist Euroquartz, has launched a new range of miniature crystal oscillators from Statek offering ultra-low current and developed for high reliability applications. Hermetically sealed in a highly reliable ceramic housing, the new CXOU oscillator is available in frequencies from 32.768 to 100,000kHz.

The CXOU offers ultra-low current consumption from 1.75 to 3.9µA depending on frequency output with start-up voltages from 0.9 to 5.0V. Standard calibration tolerances are ±20, ±50 and ±100ppm with tighter bands available to special order if required. Typical start-up time is 200ms with rise/fall times of 30ns while aging is ±2ppm for first year. Standard CMOS output load is 10pF with other loads available to special order. The new crystal oscillators are also capable of withstanding peak shock up to 5,000g (0.3ms ½ sine).

Housed in a non-magnetic, helium-impermeable ceramic package and lid measuring just 1.2×2.0x0.76mm, the CXOU range of oscillators is ideal for use in many medical implantable applications including pacemakers, defibrillators and neuro devices as well as external medical products. With full military testing per MIL-PRF-55310 available to order, the oscillators are also suitable for many defense and aerospace applications.

Additional features and specifications include tristate enable/disable options and operating temperature ranges for commercial (0 to 70°C), industrial (-40 to +85°C) and military (-55 to +125°C) applications. Process temperature rating is 260°C for 2 minutes maximum.

Statek CXOU oscillators are available in tray packs or 12mm carrier tape 178 or 330mm reels (EIA481).
