The electronics industry is facing a familiar problem: Technology is advancing quickly, but turning new developments into practical products takes more than innovation alone. Engineers and manufacturers also have to contend with supply chain pressures, changing markets and growing demands on electronic systems.
At electronica 2026, the supporting program will bring these issues into focus through expert discussions, technical presentations and opportunities for industry professionals to exchange ideas.
The program will run alongside the international electronics trade fair in Munich, Germany, from November 10 to 13, 2026.
A New Space for Edge Computing
One of this year’s additions is edge lab LIVE!, a dedicated area in Hall C5 focused on moving edge computing concepts into working systems.
The space will feature live demonstrations, hands-on workshops and technical presentations showing how open-source technologies and open standards are being used in real-world applications. Developers and system architects will also have access to a three-day technical conference covering embedded systems, IoT and edge AI.
The electronica Edge Awards will recognize new solutions in these areas.
Fifteen Forums Cover the Engineering Challenges
Beyond the new edge computing area, electronica will host 15 technical forums throughout the exhibition halls.
Experts from Infineon, Monolithic Power Systems (MPS), Phoenix Contact, Renesas and Siemens are among those scheduled to participate. Discussions will cover cybersecurity, embedded systems, industrial IoT, connectivity, printed circuit boards, power electronics and sensor technology.
Several topics reflect broader challenges facing electronics designers, including improving AI performance without increasing energy consumption and meeting new cybersecurity requirements.
The Women in Tech Forum will also return. New cross-industry sessions with IFAT and IAA MOBILITY on November 11 will examine practices shared across electronics, environmental technology and automotive engineering.
Automotive Electronics Gets an Early Start
The electronica Automotive Conference will take place November 9, one day before the exhibition opens.
Held at the International Congress Center Munich (ICM), the conference will address vehicle electrification, software-based electrical and electronic architectures, autonomous driving and the geopolitical implications of semiconductor supply challenges.
Speakers from Audi, Airbus, IMEC, Infineon and other organizations will participate in keynote presentations and a CTO roundtable.
SEMICON Europa will run alongside electronica, covering the semiconductor industry’s value chain across two and a half exhibition halls.
Startups and Future Engineers Get Their Own Programs
The event will also provide opportunities for emerging companies and students.
The electronica Fast Forward startup platform, organized in collaboration with Elektor, will connect electronics and deep-tech companies with industry representatives and potential investors. Selected startups will pitch their technologies for the Fast Forward Award.
For students and early-career professionals, the Career Area will offer job listings, individual career counseling and application support.
Young Talents Days, scheduled for November 12 and 13, will include workshops, guided tours and career guidance for high school and college students. Admission will be free on November 13.
Organizers expect approximately 3,500 exhibitors across electronica and SEMICON Europa. With 18 exhibition halls dedicated to electronica and a supporting program spanning technical education, industry discussions and career development, the November event will offer attendees opportunities to explore both emerging technologies and the engineering challenges behind them.
