They also assist in preparedness by telling users how much charge is available before beginning a project and how much is remaining while in the process.

The accompanying app has three components which let users see which products are connected as well as alert them of the status of current projects in order to enhance the DIY experience.

In the My Products section of the app, users can view a list of their connected batteries, select and interact directly with an individual battery when in range, enable or disable the battery, view remaining life, access locations, or activate the integrated USB port, which can power external devices like phones and tablets.

The Smartech batteries are now available at Black+Decker for $69 and the app can be downloaded for free in the App Store or Google Play Store.
