Can this futuristic toothbrush clean your teeth in just 10 seconds?

Clean teeth in just 10 seconds? Seems a bit unrealistic, but an Italian start-up company is guaranteeing that kind of performance with its newly developed toothbrush that automatically ensures the correct brushing technique in just 10 seconds, in order to save time and improve oral hygiene.

The GlareSmile is the first electric toothbrush that works 100% automatically, equipped with three brushes that simultaneously brush all the surfaces of each tooth, with a simple sliding movement.

Typically dentists recommend brushing your teeth three times a day for a minimum of two minutes. But the creators of the GlareSmile thought they could reduce brushing time significantly.

The team, led by a dentist who has been searching for a solution for over five years, came up with a high-tech toothbrush equipped with UV LEDs for disinfecting purposes, a touchscreen display, interchangeable heads, and a waterproof body. The company went even more “tecchie” on users by providing not only a USB charger, but also a solar charger, docking station, and accompanying mobile app.

GlareSmile possesses an internal memory that keeps track of usage statistics like brushing time, pressure on teeth, and used modes. By downloading the GlareSmile app on a smartphone, users can take their information to the dentist with them or connect the brush to a laptop to store all of the statistics.

The two outer brushes respectively brush one side of the user’s teeth, while the central brush cleans the the opposite surfaces. The rotational movements from the bottom to the top guarantees plaque removal, according to the company.

The GlareSmile creators have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their high-tech toothbrush. Currently, interested buyers can still snag one for an early-bird rate of $111, with shipping expected in time for the winter holidays.
